Women’s Ankle Boots and Leather Boots

Ankle boots mark the true beginning of winter, when ballet flats are no longer enough. High enough to cover the ankle, light enough to wear every day, they work with jeans as easily as with a long dress. For Fall-Winter 2026, Soeur designs its women’s leather ankle boots and boots with clean lines and soles that extend beyond the upper, lending a grounded feel to every step, alongside tall boots for longer silhouettes.

Boots, ankle boots or tall boots: what’s the difference?

All three terms refer to shoes that rise above the foot, but to different heights. An ankle boot stops at or just above the ankle. In France, the borrowed English word “boots” refers to ankle boots with a more pronounced character, often with a thick sole; “low boots” are the lowest version, cut close to the ankle. A tall boot, finally, rises to the calf or knee.

Leather first and foremost

The quality of the leather is what matters in a pair of women’s leather ankle boots: it determines how they will age. Grained leather resists everyday marks and retains its appearance season after season. Supple, vegetable-tanned leather, as used for the dark brown Lollie ankle boots, develops a patina and gradually moulds to the foot, while suede has a matte, velvety feel. Heel height comes down to how the boots will be worn, from a few centimetres for long walks to a higher heel that lengthens the leg. A side zip makes most of our styles easy to slip on.

How to wear ankle boots with jeans or a dress

With straight-leg jeans, the ankle boot slips beneath the hem, which falls over the shaft; shorter jeans ending at the ankle leave it fully visible. Under a long dress or a midi skirt, a heeled ankle boot lengthens the leg without breaking the line, while a tall boot fills the gap between hem and shoe. Brown ankle boots complement winter’s warm tones, while black ankle boots go with everything.
